Often I hear synergists (or others of the sort) say that we must take the "simple meaning of scripture." Ever heard it? This is often said within the context of discussing proof-texts with those who hold to universal atonement or losing salvation. One such passage is 2 Peter 2:1 which says,
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
Many Reformed people find this passage challenging their theology. But is it a "hard" text? One might find that it is not as "hard" as you think. Simon Escobedo III has written a paper on this very verse at aomin.org. Be encouraged my Reformed brothers, the Bible is not inconsistent :-)
